Getting on my friggin nerves !!!!!!

god damn frustrated.
maybe most of us are dealing with this now
but it's really ticking me off !
i'm graduating soon.
i should have an idea on what to study in the future
i've got several ideas which i think i would excel in it
or have the chance to learn what i really want
but she's all like "NO!!" or "USE YOUR COMMON SENSE, you think people will hire you ?"
okay..that's not the point
she was like "you should study law." "go for pharmacy" "economics's the best. trust me"
blah blah blah.
lately, she's been forcing me to take architecture
see that ? FORCING.
i told her politely, no i'm not interested. and i don't think i will be.
this afternoon she snapped me.
asking me to attend baking,make-up or even pet grooming
" go for all those cheap cheap course la. ur father likes the most !!!!"
FUCK YOU !!!!!! FUCK !!!!!!!!!
do you have any idea what the hell are you saying.
you're humiliating both me and dad.
tears rolled down from my eyes.
she noticed and guess what she said
" CRY CRY CRY. cry for what. cry for a small matter "
then she even asked me to sit next to her
listen to her blabber ....about how good architecture is.
i got mad but i remained silent.
i was really pissed.
i know what you're doing is for my own good.
but i don't appreciate it.
i really don't.
and i think you know why.
i don't wanna be like before anymore.
follow blindly what you say and REGRET.
but i really don't know what should i do.
i don't want to follow what you have planned.
i wanna be ME, myself, and less like you.
why not ?

Blogged, Joey.

  1. Hm, mom??

    No.. sounds like your sister.

Anyhow. She might be blabbering a lot of nonsense now. But just listen anyways. If suddenly something interests you, who knows, she might be able to help.

And I can understand how you can feel humiliated by the way she told you things. But don't let it get to you too much. She probably thinks she understands everyone she knows too well and is always better than all of them.

So why bother being sensitive over someone like her? D:

BUT. if you wanna piss her off back... there's a way. Just say... "look, I appreciate your concern and everything, but if there's anything I know that I don't want at all, there's just one, and I know I won't ever want to be anywhere similar to the kinda person you are. *shush her if she tries to say anything*

"I don't need to tell you why. Go figure it out yourself. Now, if you'd excuse me, my ears feel rather tired from all the excess audio intake. I'd rather not have another conversation like this again" *slam door/run upstairs/go back to sleep/go out/etc.* Just don't give her room to say anything.

Or well, there IS another way. Just give awesome sarcastic remarks about whatever she has to say. Like is she brings up architecture, go like "oh wow, that? Oh, I already read up all about it during the career week the other time, but I'm more than happy to hear a repeat of whatever you have to say..." Think up the funniest most impactful stuff you can think of lol. Be creative. :E

Oh, and if she tells you again "who's gonna hire you", just say "who said I wanted to be hired? D: wah.. your vision so cetek one meh? aiyo, people go college to get hired after grad damn siew la wei. Be the one hiring instead la. Whuddaheck, never think of this before isit? tsk tsk tsk"

Oh well, whichever suits you. Or you could always do nothing at all. It's a matter of choice really.

And uh. If you wanna pick a college or major or subject, take your time. And more important, research about it.

If you donno what course you wanna take, just pick a college you'd wanna go. Just let yourself know why you wanna be there. It can be as simple as it having good facilities or reasonable tuition fees.

If you donno which college you wanna go to, just look for the subject you wanna take. It'd narrow down all your choices somewhat.

Also, if you ever visit any college, always ask them how are the policies to student deferment? Deferment is a case whereby the students requests for a break form the entire course. Usually a deferment will have a minimal period of 1 semester. But it differs for different institutions.

And... if you happen to like the college/subject and the fees look too daunting for you, just ask them what kinda payment plans they have for students. Also ask them if they have full-time or part-time courses.

Part-time courses are usually more flexible, and are for people who wanna be independent and work+study at the same time. Nobody said you can't work part-time when you go for a full-time course neither.

But look at it this way. If you take the full-time and work, then you're probably gonna sleep 5 hours a day and rush every assignment you have.

If you take part-time studies and approach each subject with ample time and not trying to just score the subject, but learning what you're supposed to be really learning in the class properly, then you can come out of college not as someone who passed all the classes and hopes for someone to hire you, as someone who actually learned what you paid for, with your own hands and ready to take the world with the newfound skills you have acquired from your preliminary investment.

    Yeah. Investment.

Well, anyways, I hope it helps. Random rants ^^
But if you have any questions about taking a course or whatnot, well, just leave a hola somewhere along my blog XD

    Cheers.

  2. that is one longass comment. @@
OMG i can't say that to my mom.
    i might get slaughtered.
attended an edu fair last friday.
asked a lil bit bout architecture.
but i think i'm takin economics and finance.
working part-time is a No no to her.
she can afford it and she thinks that's a waste of time.
anyways, what are u studying ?
    graphic design ?
    see u XD

  3. Illustration. It's commercial art. Like... drawing a portrait, but it has to be fast, efficient, look good and must be what the client is looking for. I also do storyboards for the commercials you see on tv and concept paintings for games. That just the general scope haha.

I can choose to freelance or work for a company. Either way, the career prospects are not bad.

Economics and finance? Then any plans on what to do after taking the course? ._. Because economics and finance is like crossing over with business and management, only that business and management always has a place in the market, since a lot of people are looking for people who can make great marketing presentations or just plain good Personal Relations.

Hm, economics and finance. What I can see someone doing with that sorta knowledge is either being a broker, or creating business plans for people who'd wanna start a business be it big or small, since you'd specialize in reading market shares and how it affects one's financial growth and stuff. Should be more than just that though, I think.

But if you think you like it, give it a shot ^^
Keep on researching la since you still have time. After SPM is the best time to do it, but most of us always fall into the trap of slacking off as much as we want before the coming year. I know I did, and I wasn't prepared to face college. So it was pretty difficult for me to adjust. Since there were so many things I wanted to do before starting college, and my dad rushed me to decide in January, and well, yeah, college just happened. Then somewhere along midyear, I failed a subject and had to resit it. Zzzz. So... don't do the mistakes I did? ><

Oh, if your mom INSISTS that she can afford anything mah good lor. Don't worry about what course you wanna take. Bang only! Go take Medicine, INSTANT KILL to your family. 1 year at least 400k XD

But if you really not sure, it might be a pretty good idea to take a Pre-U Course.

  4. Or even better, lemme ask you this.

What do you like to do?

    Do you enjoy helping people?

    What makes you smile?

Are you ok with talking to people?

How much are you aiming to earn?

Do you want to sit in an office all day or walk around more?

Do you want to work flexible hours whenever you want or work with normal time constraints like an office worker?

Do you wanna engage into social activities with people or do you wanna do work within your own space and not let anyone interfere?

    You wanna sell or create?

    You wanna follow or lead?

What makes you wanna wake up in the morning and do stuff the minute you feel awake?

Owh, and never underestimate the power of working. Working is a really great way to find out what you like to do. Because they'd answer most of the questions for you up there. Then you'd find out what you like to do and all. If I were you, I'd work for maybe 4 months first. At least by then your results are already out, and you don't have to worry about your results tak ngam with your forecast lol.

If you work in a fast food restaurant, like McD's and KFC, they have their own colleges for their companies and workers who aim to be like a manager and stuff. I have a friend who went into college, dropped out, focused on his job at McD's, got promoted and is only working 4 days, earning an income of 3k+. Not bad if you ask me.

If you work at 24/7 outlets like 7-11, you'll learn about customer ethics, how to manage a store, and maybe become a branch manager yourself. That pay is about the same like the fast-food industry.

If you work at Clothing Shops or whatever that requires you to man a shop and help sell something, you again learn customer ethics and all. But the bonus is you also learn taste and trends about what people like and don't, and how to make a pitch with simple ideas.

You can also try out teaching. You don't have to go to a school or whatever. But if you've given tuition to people before or something liddat, you can continue doing it. It's a nice job with a good pay, if you have nothing else to do lol.

But if you could work in a hotel, that'd be awesome. You'd be learning whatever a college would be teaching you in a Hospitality and Management course, but on the floor :D I found out that I really liked this course when I was studying and working for a period of time. I might just sign myself up for it after I'm done with my current course haha. But for now, I plan to be an art therapist heh.

I think that's about all I know la. But if you wanna be a swimming instructor or mechanic also can geh.

Hm, you got Facebook? I can intro you to some people who've done the courses you might have thought of going for. You add me lah if you need XD just look for Osla Chan/zenzaiku@hotmail.com I'm the only one in Malaysia so shouldn't be hard to find lol.

    Yeah. Another longass comment P:

  5. wow ...
what do u mean by broker?
    won't earn much ??
    i'm so lost...
now i don't have any idea what to study

coz i don't have the money to change course
anyways, i've planned to work as as a tour guide at UK Farm
not sure if there is any part-time job available.
    anyways
    answer to your questions ~~
    i like drawing and laughing.
    yes i do!!
i smile for comics, comedies, handsome guys, talking nonsense.
i love talking to people but sometimes i become very quiet for no reason. =(
as long it's enough to feed my future kids and go for a decent vacation sometimes
i wanna walk around ! i hate staying still
    i prefer normal office hours.
    social activities of course =)
    i wanna create.
    being a follower is fine.
    i hate waking up.... ><"
hope you see this...suggest something i should study maybe ?
thanks for your comment Osla Chan...haha ^_^

  6. Wah, lucky I subscribe lol. XD

broker is not the state of being broke la. But its the profession where the guy works to sell shares to people. Like in the World Trade Center at New York. It's a pretty high paced job. You usually sit in front of the computer screen, and once things get hectic, you'd have to run around to pass messages to people. Pretty fun/stressful job. High commission rates too ^^

Lets see, you like drawing and laughing huh. Ever thought of being a clown or entertainer? Maybe a stand up comedian or something. It's not that bad...

Helping people. There are lots of things you can do if you like to help people. But if you really feel high from servicing people a lot, the hospitality line is a great way to start, since they'd be teaching you how to service people professionally :D You'll be working in hotel's or you might become a flight attendant or you can be a tour guide. It's a pretty flexbile job, and the pay is not bad, not to mention free accommodations and food :D Or you can be a nurse or a doctor. A nurse isn't hard to be. The pay is not bad too. Takes only 2 years of course as well.

Talk ah. You have to talk a lot in the Hospitality line. But actually, all forms of work also requires you to talk in some way or another so. But if you really proactive speaker, very aggressive with words, you can try joining and multi-level-marketing companies like Amway. Or be a project manager of a company. Your task would usually be to sell a project to prospective clients. All pretty nice jobs ^^

Smile? You might consider drawing for comics, writing comedy scripts, create fanblogs for your favourtie cuties or make your own podcast in the future, or hey, maybe be a youtube star :D Since all those things help to make you smile. Man, who doesn't love to talk nonsense lol. You can try being an emcee, or a news reporter or also a spokesperson. Maybe a radio station deejay? Lots of options oh.

You like talking to people, even better. That's something everyone needs to be a good employee :E But maybe you can try being a talkshow host or an interviewer, or maybe a psychologist since they all require a lot of talking. Well, or again, you can check hospitality. Haha.

Aiming to earn cukup-cukup? Liddat no need to worry lo. All jobs also give pay one. It's not about how much you earn, but how much you save from your earnings you see.^^

You like moving around? Good. Hospitality again (i'm very hospitality biased P:) or you could be a paramedic. It coincides with helping people 0.o Librarian's a not bad job too. You'd be arranging books and all.

Office hours, good. Then you've pretty much scored almost every job there is in the world lol.

Social activities? Every company usually has their own annual events. So if you go there and attend, it's good networking and yeah, you'll be going for a social activity XD

You wanna create? Hmm, well you can draw cool stuff. Or design awesome things. Or be the brains behind and advertising campaign. Maybe be a contractor and build roads. Or be a teacher and create dreams for the future children. Or be a medical practitioner and give hope to your patients. Or be a good friend and create good relationships. ^^

  7. But I think whatever it is, you go work at that UK Farm as a Tour Guide first. After working there, and you feel like you don't like it, at least you'd know that you don't like leading people on a tour XD.

From your character, you'd be a good...hmmmm... that is hard indeed.

But Advertising and Mass Comms and Hospitality & Management seems to fit more perfectly to your whole attitude package - not wanting to wake up. Might as well be bartender lol. You can sleep as long as you want during the day and just go work at night XD

Advertising is pretty cool. You talk to people about ideas, brainstorm, attend lotsa meetings, do groupworks, present your projects to clients, which means you usually won't sit around whole day at your desk. Got lotsa things to do, lotsa datelines, but pretty fun line to be in. Because you'd be part of great idea creations. There's an Advertising & Design course in my college in case you're interested, but I must warn you, The One Academy is not for the motivationally challenged XD.

Mass Communications can also be branched out into Advertising, only that you can also work as a Public Relations officer in hotels or private companies too. You learn copywriting and creative writing. Pretty cool if you love writing and have strong language (BM, English and Chinese) skills. You'd always be in touch with people and you might have a chance to touch the hearts of the general public with your writing.

Hospitality & Management is exactly what it is. You'd learn to perform the greatest of services to your customers. You'd also learn basic culinary, housekeeping, management and basic financing. All pretty useful skills. And most of all, you'd learn human psychology, something you can't study in a book, since the course/job always demands you to be on floor. You can apply this kinda of knowledge almost anywhere really. But one thing you should know is that hotels and restaurants are always hiring. So you won't really run out of job offers in this line XD

Hospitality vs Business. Business is cool and all, since you learn some economics, lots and lots of financial theories, management policies, legal business laws and all, but hospitality offers more in terms of real raw knowledge you can apply in just about anything. Lets say you take Business, you won't be able to treat your client as well as you would if you studied Hospitality, because your number 1 priority is to make your client comfortable in Hospitality, whereas in Business, is to maximize profit and build healthy long-term business relationships. In terms of financing, Business will win, but Hospitality is specialized in the financial management of its on industry. So depending on which one you're going for, both still works.

It'd be a lot better if you could decide on your own. I don't want to recommend you one and after that you find that you don't like it, 'cause it happens sometimes PX Like how I did for myself *sigh* I'm ok with college now. Just hahahaha.. ha ha. Don't make the same mistake I did? :)

So yeah, if you have any other questions, feel free to ask lol. Comment here or can send directly to my e-mail. searizeel@gmail.com

And some of the jobs I missed are working in Information & Technology sectors and Engineering. Architecture too. Maybe Interior Design?

  8. But remember this. Any job you do will help you earn money. What you need to do is find something you won't mind/like/love doing for the next 50 years of your life. Once you find that spark, just keep it burning and go all the way.

If you keep working, it'd always shave out all the jobs that you don't really like. It might take some time, but look at the bright side, you have the experience, you get the pay. So... why not? Go try maybe at least 2 jobs. Then maybe you'd know what kinda situations you'd be put in and all. But having experience is always better than having none at all. If you wanna jobhunt, then go to the Lowyat Forums under the Classifieds section and go to Job Enlistment.

If your mom asks, just tell her that you wanna be sure that you're making the right choice so that you don't waste your one shot at college with the one and only shot your family can afford for you. If it's only one chance, might as well make the best informed decision and take it after you've weighed all the potential consequences, risks and benefits in your head, even if it takes a few more months, right?

Just try and talk to her. I'm sure she'd listen somehow. I mean.. she loves you right? And you love her too right? So don't give up. If you love her enough, you should be able to get the message true, and if she loves you enough, she should care enough to listen to your thoughts ^^

Oh, and if you're looking for a part time job/full-time, my boss @ Lunchbox Sunway is looking for a cashier to take care of the old store. Pay is RM5 an hour and you get 3 meals a day. You can refer to the footer on my blog for more info ^^

But if it's too far... nevermind ba XD

Yeah.. hope it helps. I write far too much bullshit sometimes =_=

  9. Oh ok, one last little thing. The best way (for me) to find out what you like/want to do is to make yourself so busy to the extent that you don't have any time for yourself at all. Then think of the first thing you'd wanna do the minute you get a break. Easiest way to achieve that is full shift working or *ahem* SPM. From that first thing, think about how you can get money from it. If you thought about it already, then that should be one of your dream jobs. ^^

    Cheers.
